Inspired by the Modern architecture and rustic quality of the 1940s Sea Ranch development in Sonoma County of California, the Great Highway House transforms an existing tract house into a light-filled home with a stunning interior-exterior connection for surfer clients.
The existing blue house was part of a row housing development from the 1940s.
Exterior weathered wood siding informs the interior of the home with a Wabi-Sabi sensibility, a belief in beauty that accepts the inherent imperfection, impermanence, and incompleteness of things.
